Simple Javascript Instructions

Follow a link to a Javascript trick that you would like to learn. When you are on the correct page pull down under View to Page Source in Netscape. This will work for most javascripts.

Next highlight the javascript code that you would like to copy. Then enter <CTRL/C> on a Windows system or <CMD/C> on a Macintosh system to copy the selected text. <CTRL/C> means to hold down on the CTRL key and press c. It's similiar to using the SHIFT key. <CMD/C> means to hold down the COMMAND key also known as the Open-Apple key and press c. Again it's similiar to using the SHIFT key.

Next go to your WWW page and enter <CTRL/V> on a Windows system or <CMD/V> on a Macintosh system or use the editor's paste function and paste the text onto your WWW page. Try extending the example by altering the sample code so that you understand what the parts of the code are actually doing.

If your javascript code is producing an error, in Netscape enter javascript: in the Location: box to get your javascript error messages. Remember javascript is case sensitive and somewhat touchy. Try simplfying your code if you run into trouble.
